AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden rituals and terrifying changes reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine group.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana together with numerous artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Addition
This release also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
